It is more expensive, but more concentrated so I find the cravings are satisfied with lower quantities. (I am not currently pregnant and I eat maybe one bar a week, which I split with my youngest dd. We eat about 2-3 pieces at a time.)

I don't consume any other caffeine so I am not at all concerned about that when pregnant, but even so it is pretty low and is naturally occurring, not an additive like you would find in soda.

The magnesium supplement is also a good idea.

Dark chocolate has a lot of health perks. While I loooove Kit Kats, I don't really consider that to be chocolate. The actual cacao content has got to be next to nothing.

I like to pick up bags of Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips at the grocery store—I think they're 60%—and stick them in the freezer. A little handful to nibble on while I check emails or whatever usually does the job if I'm craving chocolate.

I did avoid during my first trimester but mid way through my 2nd trimester, I was craving like crazy. Now my cravings come and go ... but if I need chocolate I usually just melt some semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl and eat it like that or with all natural ice cream. Sometimes I make homemade chocolate chip (or oatmeal chocolate chip cookies). I don't know how much is too much ... I feel much calmer and nicer when I have chocolate.

I have to make some of these tomorrow. Sounds perfect.

I recently read about making dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds which also sounds divine.
