DS's symptoms..nervous mama...quick advice

Hey mothering friends,

3 quick questions if anyone has time to give advice.

1. My DS has a red spot (about a quarter of an inch) on his calf, surrounded by a white ring (lighter colored skin than the rest). None of it is raised or bothers him, but I am concerned maybe it could be the start of Lyme's?

2. Seperate issue - he is uncircumsized and has a very inflamed foreskin. It used to show up when he was younger and it would eventually ooze out of the left side, we would put bacitracin on it and it would go away. Now it is on the left side and more bulging and doesn't seem like it is going to come out. Has anyone had this?

3. Looking for advice on giving a 4 year old oil of oregano.. I have the p73, wild, non gmo kind.

Thanks for any help!

1. Could it be ringworm? (Which despite the name is a fungus.) I don't know how it's treated.

2. Sounds like some sort of infection, and I'd want it checked out. Maybe check with the folks over in the 'Case Against Circumcision'? Make sure the doc doesn't retract the foreskin when examining it.

3. No clue, sorry.

Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it! Do you know what is done for ringworm? Does it just go away on it's own?

Still open for other ideas on the red spot with white circle around it...and here's an update:

1. No change except that the white circle is expanding a bit.. I am wondering if it could be the start of ringworm too. We will see as time goes on... it is not bothering him at all and he is fine otherwise. took pictures so when we go in when there is normal business hours, they can see what it started as. If anyone has other ideas too, let me know.. I just can't seem to find much when I search for what it could be.

2. The foreskin thing is getting better..It is finally now taking the same path as it has in the past and he is starting to feel better, so I am relieved. Still going to do multiple baths, bacitracin, loose shorts, etc...

3. Skipping the oil of oregano for now...

1. you would treat ringworm with an anti-fungal. It's contagious and I'd keep and eye on it and keep it covered so it can't be scratched at.

no clue on the others. sorry

Okay, I am looking at more pictures of ringworm..this just doesn't look like it. Ringworm is a pink circle with a pale center..this is a white circle with a red center... any other thoughts??

Lyme's disease has a "bull's eye" looking rash....a red splotch in the middle with a red ring around it. At least I *think* it's usually a red ring on the outside, too. Have you looked at photos of bug bites? If it's only one & isn't spreading, I'd suspect an insect or spider bite.

And I'm a little confused about your foreskin description (what oozes out?) but I would look into possible yeast. Yeast loves moist environments & if airing it out helps, it could be. Bacitracin wouldn't help yeast, though, so I don't know. Maybe it's just a coincidence??
