questions about radians and trucks

hi, I am in the process of finding a new carseat for my 5 1/2 month old DD as she had reached the limit for her infant car seat. From what I have been reading so far, the Radian car seat looks like the one I want to get because of the high rear facing weight limit and other reasons as well ( I have a very solid little baby and want the heightest rear facing weight limit possible.

I hesitate though because the seat will be installed in a truck, in the back seat. I notice that it is a very tall seat and has to be on quite a recline. Will this work in the back of our truck? ( it is a cub cab).

Also, would it be safe to install it in the middle seat in the back where there is a space between the two front seats? That way if it is a little bit taller it has more room to go back?

And lastely, if the Radian isn't a good seat for a truck, what are some better truck compatible carseats with hight rearfacing weight limits?

Yes it can stick out between the two front seats, thats a good way to get seats RF in smaller back seats.

You dont have to install it at 45*, it can be more upright (as long as her head isnt flopping forward too much when she falls asleep), so you will have more room that way. It doenst HAVE to be at full recline except for newborns. My 3yr olds seat is very upright.

Radian allows bracing (if your vehicle allows it) so you can touch the seat in front as well.

What is your dd's current height/weight?

Yes, but the radian is impossible to install more upright in some vehicles.

I always got a really really awesome install in our old Nissan Frontier. I'm not sure what kind of truck you have but it was really easy to get a more upright install tightly in that thing. However, there was JUST enough space for me in the passenger seat and the space wasn't wide enough between the seats for the middle to be used.

See if you can test the seat out in your car before purchase. I know some stores will let you take a model to your car to install and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure babie r us does this.

True, but it allows bracing which does help. And there are all those tricks to get it upright which do help a lot.

There is a Radian sucessful install thread on car-seat.org, and you can post your questions there to see if there is someone who has been able to install a RF radian in your car....

But, cars with smart airbags do not allow bracing. So therefore you can't use that method in every car to get it more upright.

I know, I said that above. (that you have to check if your CAR allows bracing).
