White dot on nipple

I think this might be a nipple bleb?

I woke up this morning after LO nursing on my left side all night, and my nipple has a white dot on it. I had a minor, dull ache deep in the breast tissue so thought maybe this was a clogged duct?

It at first was not leaking milk when squeezed but then I took a sterilized needle, and scraped it and milk immediately blobbed up and leaked out of it slowly once I scraped it.. now milk flows from it if I squeeze gently but the white spot is faintly there.

I have a hot compress on it, and am still nursing DD on that side. Anyone here BTDT, and am I doing the right thing and is that what it probably is?

Sounds like it. I found it really painful, but only for a day. Then it cleared up. I think you treated it appropriately. That's what I did for mine.

I didn't scrape mine. I just nursed nursed nursed on that side and it was better after 2 days. It hurt, ahhh.

Yes, that's what it is. It also helped me to make a really hot bath and lay face down in it so the nipple was soaking for awhile, rub with washcloth after that, then pick the spot out with tweezers. Then I'd push the milk out until the spot in my breast was soft. Then nurse a bunch or pump if he was asleep. I had to do this at least once a week for awhile there!

I second the tweezers idea. if you can get it out at all gently grasp it with tweezers and pull it out. This is what I did the 2x it happened. No pain and much easier. It kinda looked liked spaghetti.

I kinda squeeze to push it a bit out, or you can try right after nursing.

Sounds about right. When it happened to me I did the same thing but also soaked in the hot tub and tried to clear it asap.
Keep nursing!

Eek, yes, sounds like a bleb. Your instincts are great - just make sure all your "tools" are sterilized. Here's what LLL has to offer as well.

For what it's worth, I always got them when DD was going through a big growth spurt; the last ones I got were at her 6 month mark - none since and she's now 14 mos (fingers crossed). Oh, and if you have any of the Jack Newman all-purpose nipple cream, that is a great thing to apply after any piercing, etc. Good luck!
