From family bed to???

My 3 year old has been talking about wanting her own "little bed" and I'm open to thinking about it, but we live in a small house with one small bedroom, and I'm not sure that we have room for a twin bed, but I'm also not sure how long she might be in a toddler bed.

I love my little girl snuggles before she goes to sleep and when she wakes up, but I could do without the cold feet under my butt when she takes her socks off. Also, her grandma wants her to be able to come spend the night, but grandpa isn't so sure about a child in their (California king) bed.


Thoughts? suggestions? Are there trundle beds for queen size beds?

dont know of any trundle beds for queen size beds. what about those folding chair things that turn into beds? i like the toddler bed, we just got one.. they aren't very big and i think will work for at least a few years.. you can get adjustable toddler bed from ikea that is very short, and than can expand in later years...
