Hello everyone!
So here is my situation. I have a 20 month old wonderful son, Darien. He sleeps in my room, mostly in my bed and still nurses. He is EXTREMELY attached to nursing. Which is fine, however, I really feel like I wanna get a little more movement towards night weaning him.
Where it stands right now is, he goes to bed anywhere from 8:30-10pm depending on his naps. He nurses then climbs down onto his bed and puts himself to sleep. Which is great! Then he's sleeping till about 3 or 4am. At that point he wakes crying and comes for milk. I've been trying to say "no milk right now, go back to sleep" but this is greeted with SERIOUS issues. He gets SOOOO mad!!! He will kick and scream and hit and wail and then stomp off outta the room and not hardly let me near him! This could go on for ages! The only way to calm him is for my husband to take him away from me completely and distract him. (my son is not an angry kid either! He's really friendly and happy and always smiling and gentle.... except when it comes to me not nursing him!)
My concern is.... how long can he go without nursing??? He is still a really picky solid food eater and still has nights were he won't touch dinner! So if he's not eating much on a night, is it too much for me to expect him to sleep from 9-6 without eating???
What I'd like to do... if that's not to long a time for him to go without food, is to nurse him to sleep and then that's it till morning (6am). If that's too long then maybe I will try and get him to 4am. The deal is (forgive the length of this!! Thanks for anyone that reads it all!!!) if I nurse him anytime between 3am-5am.. I find that he will be up every hour from then on to whenever I get outta bed crying for more milk!
Any advice for me!
My husband and I are trying, and I'm thinking successful at this point, for another baby. Darien will be 2 1/2 when that baby is born. I have no problem giving him a nursing at night when the baby is here but I don't wanna be nursing 2 thru the night!
