MMR & Autism

I always like to get the story from the horse's mouth so to speak, so I went to the Wake Forest School website and got their version of the story:

http://www.wfubmc.edu/News-Releases/...and_Autism.htm

First off, it's a story from 2006. I couldn't find any more about it from the University website. I don't know what their final findings were or if they were published. Hopefully, someone else can find this.

Secondly, I wonder what the incidence of measles in the gut of people with bowel issues who are not autistic is. For instance, is the measles virus causing the bowel issues, but not the autism.

But mostly, it's very interesting and needs to be studied more.

Yes, I was going to post that and found lots of problems with the story.

I found it first on a site from the Daily Mail, in the UK, which is similar to the Enquirer here. The science was being questioned also, but I question the science in most of these vax studies anyway.

As far as I am concerned, the jury is still out. Why was the study even published in Lancet in the first place?

if it is correct that measles colonize the gut, which leads to regressive autism, i wonder what was the underlying illness that caused this? why did those kids get colonized and not others?
i would think that there was something wrong with thier gut in the fist place to allow measles to colonize it.

rachel_eva...you are right....what is the underlying cause and what can be done to identify it and screen out kids whose systems could allow this to happen? The measles replicating in the gut is only one of many theories... Many kids who have regressed have received antibiotics near or during the time of vaccination. Antibiotics are known to throw off the flora and fauna of the body, especially the digestive system. If the lining of the digestive system is off balance, or not functioning correctly, it makes sense that the measles virus might be able to cause problems there, whereas in a healthier child, it might not.

Of course, if the medical establishment holds stubbornly to the idea that one size fits all, there's no real reason to look for ways to screen out vulnerable children.

The gut can be colonized by a vaginal birth by the mother. A surgical birth avoids the vaginal flora that colonizes the baby. Maybe this is why autism is linked to pitocin and other labor interventions.

I hope the day comes soon when families can get the financial help they need to rase their child with Autism....In Massachuseets , I have been denied my right to let my son go to the same school his sister went to , because he has Autism. The school in Fairhaven massachusetts said they simply don't want him...I was denied a hearing from BSEA ...They keep asking if I had a lawyer , and just told me no hearing...I don't want home scholing because I want my son out with other students....He has been denied his right and has been out of school since he was 16. He will be 18 in December........the school want you to believe you child is as dumb as possible ...They want you to ask for less ,thinking he or she has no hope...I ask for a one on one every year ...the director in Massachusetts walk out when I asked for a computer.......DDS has been no help ...They just talk to the schools behind your back......Any lawyer that is free has been little help...and advocates (5 of them)  take 500 off the bat . Then you see them running away with the money......(..What we need is a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT).......Massachusetts BSEA was poor in my case.
