How can you tell when babies flip?

first off let me start with this, my belly is so stretched out and big that anytime they move more than an arm or leg all i feel is my belly get tighter, like a contraction only not as long as one.

but i have used my doppler to check on them tonight and little girl's heartbeat (not placenta or cord sounds) is where it always is. next to my bellybutton. little man's has previously been right up top of my uterus on the left side.

tonight, his was literally right across from hers. and i feel different movements then i have been. i hope i am right.

since little girl is smaller than little boy, i am having an u/s next week to make sure she is still growing at the same rate as him. we will know for sure then.

given my OB's current attitude, i hope i am right so i can rub it in his face alittle bit.

I start with palpation skills. You find the poles (head and butt), and the back and limbs if you can. Then if you have questions, you use the doppler. Sooo, if the placement of the heart tones have changed, it's a good bet baby's position has changed as well. I'll cross my fingers for you!

its really hard to place anything with how tight my skin is! but i am pretty sure he is head down now. im not getting the constant kicks in the baldder like i was and i have quite a bit more pressure down there compared to when he was breech. and little girls feet arent being quite as violent as they were when his head was up there she used to whack him in teh face all the time. i couldnt get a clear look at his face during our last u/s because he was protecting it from her feet.

im keeping my fingers crossed, and thanks!

I'm guessing with twins it's a ton trickier. Honestly, with my DS and my DD, I was never able to really tell what body part was doing the moving. Maybe with DS because I didn't pay much attention to things, I knew he was moving and loved it and that was about it. With DD, I spent some time on spinning babies and saw the belly mapping and so on, but I never felt like I could figure it out. FInally, baby #3 and I feel like I have it down. I can mostly tell by where movements are. For example, if I'm feeling all of the movements on my right side, I know that his back is on my left and his limbs are to my right. Then, if I feel movement on right and left, up and down, I'm pretty sure he's currently posterior at that point (not a biggy at 34 weeks). I personally still know he's head down because of hiccups, I feel those down low. And like you said, heartbeat, is down low too. I only have one baby to track, so when I feel little kicks on one side and nothing on the other side, I can figure it out pretty easily. I'd take it as a good sign as well that the location of baby boy's heartbeat has moved!!! What about hiccups? Are those any help for you?
