my 30mo dd is regressing in speech....

I am 36 weeks preggo and have been noticing my DD is resorting to whining for everything and not using any words. she was not a huge talker before but she would use her words to ask for "milk please" "thanks mama" "brush teeth mama", etc....but lately, its all whines, so hard on me, and my hubby!
has anyone else experienced a similar situation? is she feeling the baby will be arriving soon and just needing more mama time? she has definitely been more my shadow lately. we talk about the new baby and her new big sister status. she has not regressed in any other ways...potty trained and going well, playing with other kiddos, etc...
Just wanting to know why she has quit talking for the most part! Thanks for any feedback!

My DD is nearly 3.5 and has always been very verbal, and she's still doing a lot of this (I'm about 35 weeks pregnant). If left unchecked, she'll whine for everything (reminders have helped) and we really had to work on asking her to use all her words-- she was starting to just say one word, or even just part of a word, and it was really annoying not knowing what she was saying or if she was just observing or asking for something. I think she was just sort of pretending to be a baby. We stopped getting her things unless she asked, and she got better. Still have to remind her to clarify sometimes. She's very excited about the baby coming and being a big sister, but I think it's still working itself out in her mind in this way.

Sounds like your gut is telling you it is the baby on the way, so I would agree. And be prepared that she will do many baby things for awhile. My ds wanted to be held like a baby, wrapped up like a baby, etc. I also reminded him of the things he could do that the baby couldn't do...he didn't care! It is just a phase

yep, she has been acting like my little baby....even have to hold her sippy cup for her to drink from! we had some good bonding last night and the baby is on the way so I think everything will be fine.....she did start using her words again yesterday, what a relief!
