Moving, getting pregnant, prone to ppd, and my nursing 21 mo

Moms who've gotten pg while nursing, this is for you especially...

DS is almost 21 months. He is an avid nurser, and lately has become even more affectionate towards "nursies," snuggling into them, and kissing them when he hasn't nursed for a bit! So, he doesn't appear interested in weaning anytime soon.

I'm alright with continuing to nurse for the time being and would prefer if he weaned himself. He's only partially vaxed, so that's a consideration in duration. I would like to get him to at least two.

We were planning on ttc this month, however, and I'm a little nervous that getting pregnant will cause him to wean. If it caused him to wean after a couple months, I'm okay with that, but if it makes him want to drop it right away, I have a problem.

Why this month, though, to ttc? I'm prone to ppd, and the thought of having a baby later than the summer makes me nervous (we live in the midwest where it gets gray and dreary really quickly after mid-oct). I can't be stuck inside with a newborn and a toddler in bad weather. I need baby to be a little bit older so we can get out and about.

Throw into the mix the fact that we're moving in 10 days. I'd really like to make sure ds has the constancy of nursing in the time of transition. I don't want him to wean, then feel the stress of the move and be without his comfort.

Thoughts? What to do? BTW, it's already cd 4, so I need to decide kinda soon! TIA!

The thing about weaning and pregnancy is that each child is different, and you won't know your child's response until you try. (I know, not very helpful). Also, you won't know your body's response to pregnancy and breastfeeding until you try.

Some women never loose their supply, some women know they're pregnant because they suddenly have no milk. It is a hard choice to make until you know what your situation will be, and you won't know your situation until you get there.

From personal experience, if I had a choice, I would NOT nurse during pregnancy. It has been REALLY hard for me. Some days, to the point I just want to cry. DD is still nursing and we are due any day now. It is TOTALLY worth all the stress it created for me. But, I won't purposely do it again, KWIM?

Much luck with your decision.
