We took in our 4 yo ds to doctors for cough. He has been sighing excessively. We had a ashma treatment done to see if it would get better. Afterwards he still sighed. So doctor thinks it is phychological. He listened to lungs, felt tummy for pain and all. Looking on the internet, it talks about anxiety, personality dissorders, hypnotic treatments, etc.

Personally I think it is anxiety, having to do with him not getting to say what he has to, or do what he wants when he wants. He is very insistant when he needs to do something, and does not give up. He has trouble staying quiet while others are trying to finish. Lots of sighing occurs after he gets to say what he has to or do what he wants. It is like a release.

Do others have this, and what can be done?
