Persistent Itchy rash (9mo)

My nine month old has a persistent rash that is mostly on her thighs but spreads to her tummy and her upper arms. Its colorless most of the time except when irritated and then she gets really blotchy and red. Its definitely rough and kind of scaly. I am pretty sure it is eczema but it seems really extreme for eczema (widespread, really itchy). I am pretty sure it is keeping her up at night now even though it has been going on for months. I do not use chemicals in the wash and try to not let her crawl around on the carpet with bare skin contact because I'm not so sure about the carpet's synthetic fibers and whether that's the culprit.

She is still a huge breastfeeder, she is only just starting little rice treats and mashed fruits. I have a really limited diet-pretty much gluten free, soy free, dairy free vegetarian but I do eat alot of nuts, beans, fruits and veggies. Hydrocortisone cream (1%) helps a little but not for long. Baby eczema cream doesn't seem to do anything but make her irritated while I put it on (she doesn't like to sit still). I use baby Aveeno in her baby bath. What am I missing here? I am finally giving in and taking her to the dr but I don't have high hopes for that - our military peds are not my favorite people in the world. Any suggestions for anything I haven't tried?

ugh, so sorry! can you find an herbalist to see? seems like the treatments you may get at the dr. will be prescription strength of the cream you're already using and steroid cream.

i can't type it all, but there's a big section on eczema in "smart medicine for a healthier child," and they recommend some different herbs but not amounts that are safe with infants specifically.

that book describes eczama as "an inflammatory skin disorder characterized by patches of red, dry, flaking skin and areas that are inflamed, moist, and oozing."

not that i've ever treated any skin condition like this, but i'd peronally skip any products in the bath except organic nut oils (barring allergy). that way the bath is only helping the skin, not stripping it at all...
