Fabric Body for a Vinyl Head?

I picked up a doll head at St. Vincent's the other day. It is soft plastic (I know, not that healthy, but at least DD doesn't chew on things anymore), and probably 3.5 or 4 inches in diameter. I am trying to find a pattern for a body, or figure out how these are used to make a doll. Anyone have suggestions?
The neck has a groove around it, like maybe your attach the body there somehow?

I was thinking about this the other day because my sister has a doll with a cute face, but I wanted a different body that I could make clothing for. It looked like the head was kept attached with one of those plastic locking tie things that are often used in the packaging of toys that you have to cut off. This is just a random website to show you what I mean. But I'd love to see other ideas too.

The straps used to attach the soft fabric bodies to the plastic heads at the groove are called cable ties and you can find them at the hardware store. Be sure the cable tie is long enough to go all around the neck with a few inches to spare, to make assembly easy. You cut off the excess once you strap it down. The top of the sewn body needs to have a casing at the neck so you can slide the cable through. The width of the cable must not be too wide. It has to be able to sit in the groove with the casing fabric. Try to pull the cable as tight as you can without distorting the plastic head, so it won't pop off exposing the body stuffing, which is a safety hazard. HTH
