My goal: Daily laundry

I am posting this here to try to be accountable....I am going to TRY to do at least one load of laundry every day.

We live in a condo with no washer/dryer -- we have a laundry room. We have SO much laundry. Sometimes we take it to a drop-off place where they wash and fold it, but I'd rather just stay on top of it. So over the weekend I did five loads and we are in good shape, so I'd like to keep at it. I figure I can find time for one load a day. Anyone else do daily laundry?

I do!

I can't save it all for one day - it would be overwhelming, and invariably I would find something else I'd rather do instead.

I generally do a load every day of the previous day's clothes with an extra load every few days of towels/sheets/kitchen linens. Sometimes, when everyone's in their pajamas after dinner, I throw a load in during bedtime proceedings, put it in the dryer before I go tuck everyone in, and fold it after the kids are asleep. I'll put it away the next morning after breakfast.

Oddly, my life got much simpler with daily laundry. It seems counterintuitive, but it really works for me.

I've always done laundry daily but it hasn't always been under control. I have a bad habit of folding, placing in piles on the dining table, and not putting away.

Another thing that helped me keep it under control is to have four baskets in the master closet. (Kitchen cloths and cleaning cloths have their own baskets in the laundry room.) All dirty clothing is sorted as it is thrown in the baskets. It seems so simple, but I keep up much better this way. When a basket fills, I throw it in the washing machine. My six year olds understand the sorting system but my husband doesn't always put his clothes in the correct basket.

I love you right now for starting an accountability thread!!!!!

I have no idea how 2 people create so much laundry (DS is naked most of the time so it's not his stuff!) DH rewears his uniforms for a few days in a row...and I wear the same pair of jeans more often than not (I hate maternity pants and these still fit so...yeah)

Anyone have a towel problem? We have this habit of not reusing towels...and it's killing our laundry. Well, sometimes we reuse them...to wipe up pee when DS decides he's not going to use his potty

We do not reuse towels and have too much laundry all together because we do not re-wear clothing or PJ's either. My husband recently started using his towel twice. I use mine once then use it to step on after the next shower. I do a load of towels every other day.

We puts hooks in our closet so I can easily hang up jeans or a shirt that I might have only worn a few hours. This is helping limit laundry a bit.

I also do laundry every day. It gets washed and dried, but not always folded on the same day. There is usually a basket of a couple loads of laundry waiting to be folded because I hate folding laundry. Hanging stuff gets put on hangers as I pull it out of the drier. My goal is to keep all the laundry from taking over.

I do daily laundry. 2 loads a day will keep me on top of it, sometimes an extra load if somebody's sheets get wet.

Well, I figure if I'm doing a load or two every day, that is not so hard to get folded and put away. It's when it's FIVE loads that it becomes a pain to put back!

We also have way too much and sometimes our laundry baskets become depositories for stuff we don't know what else to do with.

Just wanted to update - I didn't do laundry on Monday but yesterday I did two loads. Two of our hampers are completely empty, and I plan to tackle the third tonight and tomorrow. It was so easy to fold and put away two loads (took about 20 minutes, if that). I am digging this plan and I hope I stick with it!!

Daily laundry has saved my sanity Before we had kids, I would let laundry go and go until I had like 8 loads to do in one day...completely overwhelming. Now, my habit is to do put a load in the washer first thing every morning (I actually have it ready in the laundry basket the night before), remember to put it in the dryer , and then fold and put away immediately when the dryer buzzes. That was another thing that I did in my pre-kid days...left clean laundry sitting everywhere, even though it annoyed me I love that I never have to dedicate a day to doing laundry. Now, on occasion, when I'm washing sheets, DD has multiple potty accidents (or when I was washing diapers every 2-3 days), and/or I'm using a lot of rags for deep cleaning, I will do more than one load, but it's still so attainable and easy in comparison to letting it pile up.

I try to do this too, it is so much less overwhelming to do only one per day. I am bad about putting the laundry away, so one load a day helps me put them away too, since it's not so much.
