I have however made frito pie which involves a layer of fritos, chili, cheese and sour cream. You heat the chili up first though, cause then the fritos don't get soggy.
my husband does that...but inside the self serve fritos bag! *insert proud emoticon here*

Yesterday was brutal. I didn't want to get out of bed and when I did I couldn't stop puking in the shower. I spent the entire day nauseous. Yuck.

And what is up with this exhaustion??? I could literally sleep the entire day. My house is a disaster and I have no energy to do the simplest tasks. I'm 8 weeks along and my previous pregnancies were no where near this bad. I'm hoping this passes soon... it's effecting the entire family and DH is acting super frustrated with me.

Vivica,
Im totally stalking you to see what ends up happening!

I understand and like Frito pie I also love casseroles.. but come on:

Doritos Casserole
1lb ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can enchilada sauce
1 can evaporated milk
1 sm. can chili peppers
1 lg bag of Doritos
2 LBS of cheese

Brown ground beef, mix all cans of stuff in when done and heat .. Start with a layer of doritos then the meat/sauce mixture and repeat and put the cheese on top and in a 350 oven until cheese is melted.

I think the worst one was "Grape Jelly Meatballs" -

i wonder what effect there would be if you left out the cream of nasty soups.

I think if you subbed some velveeta and sour cream instead of the 2 lbs of cheese and the cream of nasties it could be interesting. Maybe added some whole pinto beans.. Oh.. and no evaporated milk. Ugh. But as written it makes my stomach hurt. My stomach just doesnt tolerate lotsa processed stuff well.

I had my first appointment with my midwife today. I'm 9 weeks 2 days by LMP but I'm not real confident in those calculations. Anyway, they were not able to detect a heartbeat yet but did make an appointment for three weeks from now. I have a tilted uterus or so I was told at my last pap and that could possibly be why we aren't hearing it so early. The midwives didn't seem concerned so I'm going to try not to worry too....this is the longest twelve weeks I've ever had I think.

They did say they believe my stomach acid is actually low instead of high (body over compensating) and that I need to eat more fermented and pickled stuff so I'll try that. I did have some chili today with no ill effects.

I do feel better having the names picked out so early and frequently find myself referring to the baby by the girl name. Wonder if it's a sign or because we already have two girls? The girls want a boy but are also referring to the baby as a she.

That Dorito cassarole sounds DISGUSTING! Cream of chicken AND cream of mushroom. *insert dry heave here*

I guess I've been a bit better, too, but I attribute it to figuring out when to take my half doses of unisom everyday. Today I reorganized in my bedroom some and did some dusting *gasp!*. So that was nice. I also exercised for the first time the other night since getting m/s (and I almost got sick), and tonight I went for a walk/jog. Not as intense as what I'm used to, but my body handled it way better. Felt good.

I stepped on the scale, too, last night for the first time in weeks and I've gained 7 or 8 pounds! NOOOOO! I'm allowed 4 in the first trimester, thankyouverymuch. I feel so trapped b/c I know why I'm gaining weight - the constant eating. I don't burn that many calories a day, especially when I'm laying/sitting around all day. But The Tummy is not happy unless something is continually going down. Grrr. I'd better get better soon so I don't have to eat all.day.long!

I'm ready to feel better!!!!

Ive been eating alot of Bubbies Sauerkraut the last few days. I highly recommend trying it if you havent. It's naturally fermented, no preservatives. Hope the diet changes help and you feel better. If you get a chance at listening via doppler again, for about 10 minutes before, lay on your back with your butt up on a few pillows. It will bring your uterus forward and up and you might have better luck with the doppler.

sewingsparklz,

Im glad you are feeling better. I need to start walking again, but Ive just spent the last few days of feeling better trying to catch up on my housework and do some cooking. I have no energy for exercise. I gained 4 lbs super quick in the beginning when I was eating constantly to appease the nausea gods. I started weighing daily again at that point. I just dont want to gain alot in the first tri, Im technically overweight to begin with.

I made the BEST dinner tonite. It actually hit the spot. I hate it lately when I cook and am finally done and it just doesnt hit the spot at all. Im so happy. DD, who is a pain in the butt picky eater ate a whole bowl and my husband said it was the best thing he had eaten in a month. HAH. Our bar is really low right now. We have ate out ALOT recently. I really hate eating out because it's always crap food and they cook it so unhealthfully even when we try to get healthy options. I did a lowfat cheddar sauce, egg noodles, peas and chicken/quorn all mixed together, because a casserole was all I could think about after the dorito talk I even got to sneak some nutritional yeast in the cheddar sauce for extra vitamins and some pureed steamed squash. It came together quick and we have dinner for tomorrow too. Score. I feel like this whole morning sickness/ first trimester thing is really on the downswing.

Wow, it looks like a good number of us are seeing the light at the end of the m/s tunnel I have felt good as far as that goes today. I ate a bowl of oatmeal, two bowls of chili and two dozen fried shrimp. Now, I feel a little nauseous. My chief complaint over the past 72 hours has been this horrid headache/migraine that won't go away. Tylenol works for my headaches about as good as a placebo.

GREAT news though! My Medicaid app was approved! I'm gonna call the birthing center and make an appointment to see the midwife. I'm seriously considering seeing a neurologist though about these headaches. I don't think it's pregnancy related--I was diagnosed with chronic intractible migraines 5 years ago and I can't handle this pain. As much as I want to avoid unnecessary medcations, I'm not trading m/s for migraines! My kids and hubby need me back to normal!

it's probably best not to worry. trust that everything is perfect.

sorry that most of you are still feeling pretty crappy (but glad for those who are starting to feel better).

i'll be 12 weeks tomorrow and am still very tired, but the nausea is getting better. i have it a little, but not as frequently as i did. sometimes i think, however, that's it's because i'm just really focused on some other stuff right now. work is stressing me out a bit and there's some family stuff that has me preoccupied.

here's hoping you're all feeling better soon.

I think it's only the nacho cheese doritos that have gluten..Frito Lay has a gluten free list on their website. Lots of other flavors of doritos are gluten free.

i still feel gross. ugh. and stressed out. my husband and i are both students on student loans and they failed to mention the fact that his EI would get cut off completely without warning if he went to school...so that's totally awesome. ugh. if you pray, pray that he finds work in the next 2 weeks or we are screwed...totally screwed.

and we have friends coming wednesday for an indefinite amount of time with their kids who i hear are hellions...ugh. i don't even like them but we are trying to make an effort..it's a long story. on top of school and trying to entertain haye, play with our dog and get homework done, church responsibilities and cleaning our house etc...our life is so friggin crazy right now and it isn't slowing down at all. i. feel. burnt. out. there are so many things i have to get done like edit 10,000 photos and give them to the clients, write a 2500 word essay and a letter aloud to my class, clean my house before the guests show up...

ahhhhhhh! i could puke just thinking about it.
ryleeee.... That is a lot going on at once I really hope your husband finds something quickly. The whole school/EI thing is so annoying...there are some programs you can be in and collect at the same time, and some you can't (university bring a prime one). It's dumb.

As for Dorito casserole, that particular recipe sounds a bit much, but the general concept appeals to me (except I cannot eat any kind of Doritos without getting terrible reflux...which is a good thing, really, cause otherwise I would eat them way more often ). I did find some weight watchers/diet friendly ones, and then this morning (because I can't stop thinking about it, thanks to this thread ) I found this one, which is much more promising, alot like Mamachef's proposed alterations http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Recipes/story?id=457556

We're referring to the baby as a "he" for some reason but are only discussing girl names.

Did they use the doppler or a u/s to try to find the heartbeat?
I'm 9 wks 1 day, and have my first appt today, and I'm also not sure if I should let her try to find a h/b yet (with a doppler)

I had a really tilted uterus before my last pregnancy, I think its more upright now (I know this from actually having to use tampons for the first time postpartum! I used to be able to not have to use anything, and could 'let it go' in the bathroom, it was so nice, oh well)

so even though its straighter it still might be somewhat tilted I guess. I don't know if I should let her try and be disappointed, or wait until the 11/12wk u/s.

my m/s is still there, some days worse than others. If I eat right away its definitely a lot better, but there's a fine line and if I eat a tad too much or the wrong thing, I get the full-sickness feeling for even longer. It sucks! But I've only thrown up twice so far, so can't complain too much.

I do think I am losing weight though, inexplicably. My pants are just getting looser. I feel like I'm eating all the time, so I don't get that. Last time I didn't gain a lot in pregnancy (18lb) but didn't lose any at the start - I wonder if its because I'm also nursing or what. I'm not exercising a whole lot right now, compared to last pregnancy! so color me confused.

maybe wait. at my last appt she couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler (i was 11 weeks and it totally freaked me out). had an ultrasound to confirm that there was one (if i hadn't i'd have been sweating until my next appt -- especially since we had a loss last fall). it's completely normal not to hear one yet, so maybe wait and save yourself any unnecessary worry if there isn't one.
Seafox - At my first appointment, the midwife flat out told me (I hadn't asked) that she wouldn't bother looking for a heartbeat. I was just shy of 9 weeks, and she said "I probably won't find one so early, and if I don't, it'll only freak you out even when everything else looks just fine so far." I didn't push, but I'm impatiently waiting for Monday, now, when I'll be just shy of 13.

In other news, I called up the doula group I plan on using, told them where I was giving birth, that I wanted a natural birth, etc. etc. and was super excited to find out that apparently the doulas adore working with the midwives' group at the hospital I'll be going to. We'd gone back and forth in our research between a couple different hospitals before settling on this one, so it's good to have that extra bit of conformation! The husband and I are going to call up and confirm we'll be making use of them after our appointment next week.
