Need recomendation for co-sleeper, premature twins

We usually bring our babies home straight to our bed so we dont currently own a crib,or anything like that. Our twins were born early this past Wednesday and it occured to me today that it would not be safe to bring them straight to our bed when we get to come home. I would just feel safer with them having a seperate area with a firmer matteress but still withen arms reach.

Does anyone have a really good recomendation for a co-sleeper that will fit our situation? I am trying to find out prices so I can start hitting up family for some loaner cash and get one before the babies come home, which will hopefully be in a couple of weeks.

I found that a side car crib was much better than the Arm's Reach CoSleeper---the ledge on the cosleeper was a little annoying. And maybe with twins, it will last longer too. Is there someone you can even borrow a crib from? I used one that could be turned into a toddler bed so it was designed to be sturdy on three sides, but I think attached to the bed, most cribs will work.

Congrats on the boys!

Totally agree, we sidecarred a crib and we LOVE it. We think of it as a bed extension I cuddle with my baby all night, but we still have plenty of room, and there's no fear of her falling out of bed.
This is the guide we used http://www.freewebs.com/sidecarcrib/index.htm

Seconding the rec to sidecar a crib rather than use a cosleeper. I currently have twins that were born premature. I got the cosleeper thinking it was going to be awesome. It's turned into a glorified nightstand. I am going to side car the crib this weekend (and I can't wait!!). I will love the bed extension because as it is now, they sleep at funky angles and I sleep all smashed up (we have a queen).

When the babies first came home I used the cosleeper more than I do now -- before I realized it was more of a pain than it was worth. When your babies come home they (likely) wont be so fragile. They'll probably be like any newborn coming home. (Usually they're released at about term -- 36-38 weeks) so it's not like you'll have 3-pounders in the bed anyway.

But if you do want a cosleeper, buy it off craigslist. I looked into CL for selling mine and there is a bunch of them hardly used, mostly because the baby slept in the bed anyway. And you MUST get the "original" sized one. There is plenty of space for twins in it. The "mini" is tiny and will not fit two babies.
