RF stress

I want to keep ds2 rfing for awhile to come his seat goes to 45lbs and he is only 32ish lbs. his 2nd birhtday is tomorrow.

We are expecting in march of next year and with the way we have our van set up the older boys will be going on the back bench and the baby will go in the captains seat in the middle. We took out the other captains seat to have extra room.

Dh wants to turn ds2 around when he goes to the back seat. he says it will be easier and sees no point in keeping him rfing.
Apparently i'm just an over paranoid person. his other reasoing is ds1 was forwards facing at an earlier age but it's just really cause i didn't know better.

I've shown him the videos we've talked about why i want the risk reduced but he just doesn't seem to care casue of how it will be easier to have him forward facing.

I feel like i'm going to lose on this one. He knows if there was a way to have our older son rfing that i wuld prefer that. I jsut don't know

Lots of parents "hatch load" their RF kids through the back of the van. It might be an option for you!

When you have your ds1 with him, he can help keep him happy, hand him things, etc.

Except for installation it doesn't have to be much more difficult than ff. He should be able to climb in and out himself.

As for convincing your dh, I don't have any advice on that one. At least you didn't turn him at 1 year.

I'd put the other captain's chair back in. I have 2 in the chairs and one on the bench in the back, and the bench kid has no problem getting back there and buckling his booster. I almost never have to crawl back there.

Rather that fighting with DH, why not just put the seat in, set it up as you want it, and then wait and see if he actually cares enough to undo your work.

I agree with use both captain's chairs. When I had 2 rfing, I had mine side by side in my sienna with teh two rfing kiddos and my oldest ds on the side in the 3rd row. It was easy to reach back and help him buckle when needed.

I have 2 kids in the rear bench and 2 RFing in the captain's chairs. The older two have no problem getting in back. I'd put the other captain's chair back in and have the two RFing in those. If you still want more room, can you fold down half of the rear bench (not certain if your van does that or not)?

Yeah either stick him in a captains chair or just plan on buckling him in from the back... thats what we ended up doing with ds2 when we took DH's new wrangler and had both boys in... it was *SO* much easier than half climbing in the back!!

i'm not too worried about buckleing them in. I really don't understand whay he wants to turn him... ds2 has no problems I don't know i still have a few months

Yeah, I don't see a problem with buckling- put the second RF seat behind the installed captains chair- you've got all the room in the world to get in there and help buckle with the second captains chair removed.
