Just wanted to share something DS did today because I'm still amazed!!
He heard the ABC song once or twice & was then addicted to it and asks for it several times a day. He also has a couple ABC books (no idea how he got so many???) that he's always asking me to read. I know a lot of people on here aren't fans of the ABC song etc. but he loves it & asks for it so I go with it.
So, we have this little game I tried playing with him the other day in the car. I say the letter & he says the word that starts with it (it's based on one of the books he loves). So I say "A" he says "apple" I say "B" he says banana. I was shocked the first time I tried it that he was able to do about 90% of the alphabet but figured he had just memorized the book since he has memorized parts of a bunch of other books.
So today we did the game again for maybe the 3rd time ever and he started coming up with different words for some of the letters! Like "P - Playground" -- that's not in any of our books -- and "K - Cat" (obviously 'wrong' but phonetically makes sense!)
I didn't know it was possible for a 20-month old to grasp phonetics!! Well I'm sure there are some 20-month-olds out there that are already reading novels lol... but I'm still amazed he did that anyway.
Anyone else have something cute or "amazing" their toddler did recently?
I think toddlerhood is my favorite age so far. Sure isn't easy but it's so cool to see him becoming his own little person.
Oh something funny he did yesterday -- DH asked what time it was & I said something sarcastic like "I don't know, what does the clock say?" and DS piped up, "Tick-tock!"
