Eczema? Skin fold irritation?? Yeast?!

Hi everyone! My 6 mos old has developed a few irritated areas behind both knees and in the folds of each elbow. They have been there for about a month - at first I thought it was irritation due to it being hot outside (DS is a chunk, about 18.5 lbs) and tried to keep the places as dry as possible and applied barrier cream, but it didn't really help. The places seem to be becoming more irritated now: shiny skin, very itchy, weepy, and a little crusty. I called my ped, the nurse advised applying lotrimin cream (for a possible yeast infection) twice a day. We have been applying the lotrimin as directed for 5 days now - no improvement whatsoever. DS has fairly sensitive, dry skin and at the last checkup, the ped said he *might* have eczema. Searching internet pics just confuses me - I have a hunch it's eczema, but I am not sure.

Does anyone have experience with the skin fold irritations and applying lotrimin? Did it work for you? If so, how long did it take for it to show any improvement?

Does this sound like eczema?

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can try?

Thanks so much!

Well, a good sign of eczema is allergies. Are you aware if he has any?

Those are classic eczema areas, and DS (who has both food and environmental allergies) breaks out there when he is reacting to a food.
