I had to work late tonight (parent teacher conferences) and so did DH... so my mom was going to pick 2.5 yo DS up from daycare...
The thing that I didn't think about until she was on her way to get him was that she does not know how to install his carseat. Eek! I didn't think about this until I was on the phone with the director this afternoon telling them that mom was on her way to pick DS up. I asked her if DH had left the carseat, and that was when I remembered... DOH! DC director said that they would help her install it... and there I am thinking, "but do YOU know what you're doing?!?!" I did tell her that the instruction manual was on the back of the seat and that it needed to be installed RF. Got off, called mom back and told her just to make sure that it didn't move at the belt path. Had two seconds to call DH and tell him that I was having a panic moment about it all. Then my next parent arrived for conference and I spent the next hour freaking out that mom was going to be driving him home in an improperly installed seat! As soon as I had a moment to call, I did and she told me that DH had called her to say that if they had problems to call him and he would come install it. So she just decided to stop by her house (which was on the way) and switch cars with my dad (who has a properly installed seat already in his car) WHEW! I wish I'd known for that whole hour, b/c then I wouldn't have needed to be in such a state of worry!
I think my next step is to find some time to teach mom how to install and use the seat. She's never wanted to mess with the carseat before b/c she thinks that I'm too picky about it and it stresses her out.
