You just sign an exemption form. Vaccines are not required for school in Cananda. I think that you don't even need exemption forms in some areas. Canada's exemption process sounds easier than the process in most US states.

Canada's exemption process is really easy. Only 3 provinces actually have any vax requirements for school, Ontario, New Brunswick and Manitoba. I'm in Alberta and I've never been asked about my son's vaccine status by the school. Vaxes are done by the health units here and they did send home a letter through the school letting me know that they were having a clinic and which vaxes my son was missing. I just signed the form saying "No I don't want him to recive any vaxes at this time" and sent it back.

Here is a link explaining Canada's exemption process.

Lucky you! Canada has written into their constitution that you have the right not to vaccinate. Depending on your location you may not even need an exemption, though due to the aforementioned right it is just a formality.

People say this all the time, generally out of true ignorance. They really believe this to be true, and I know a lot of people who vax because of it.

Other times it is a tactic to try to get you to vax. I have heard it from public health workers, and that really makes me mad as they should know better.

I am in Alberta, and this comes up every time someone brings up vaxing. It is a very common misconception.

(Some provinces, like Ontario, do require you to submit an exemption but from what I have heard it is no big deal. I am quite sure that B.C., like Alberta, have no requirements at all.)

When I lived in Alberta and enrolled my DD in school, they didn't even ask about her vaccination status. I brought it up with the secretary at the front desk, thinking, well, it's something they might want to know and she said, "Oh, okay, that's fine." Then I asked if they would be asking me to keep her home in case of an outbreak and she said no, they didn't do that there.

Then we moved to Australia where we have to show our CO form at every single school.
