Weight gain woes

Whaa! I've already gained twenty pounds and the holidays haven't even gotten here yet! What's a girl to do? Cookies, cakes, pies beckon me from the fridge and pantry. My husband HAS to have sweets in the house. I've started walking but I can see it's just going to be a struggle to maintain my 35 pound weight gain goal

I have also gained 20 pounds, and it was all within the last six weeks. So I am right there with you in wondering how much I'll be putting on around the holidays.

I am already well over 20 lbs gained. I am eating healthy whole foods as much as possible, and try to avoid processed foods where I can. I have not been exercising like I should, but it has just been to hot to move. I figure as long as I am eating healthy and staying healthy, that the weight gain is just what my body needs to do with this pregnancy.

In the first twenty weeks I only gained two or three pounds and was so happy. I was like, "great, I'm going to be one of those cute pregnant women who only gain like twenty pounds!" Then bam, I suddenly started packing it on (no change in diet!) and in the past eight weeks I've gained a bunch. It's disheartening.

If it makes you feel any better I'm up 15, despite eating decent (although very carb heavy), and going to the gym at least 3x a week. 35 is the max I want to reach too but I know I had huge jumps at this time last time around so we'll see. The holidays have me worried as the meals prepared are never very healthy, and I just can't resist all the yumminess!

I'm with you. I"m overweight, and did not gain any weight last year with my son, until I started swelling like a baloon in my last few weeks. 2 weeks pp, all the baby weight was gone.

this time I've already gained 10 pounds that I really shouldn't have. I've change my diet, but need to excersise more.

Shut it, all of you. I have gained 32 lbs at 25 weeks pregnant.

I've gained a bunch too. I started small, so that helps. But I am a little afraid of the holidays... and gaining 50 kbs or something. At least it's easy enough to lose later, right?

I gained almost fifty pounds with my first and it did not take as long as I thought it would to shed the weight, but man I sure was hoping I could fit into my regular clothes a little sooner.

I've gained 22 pounds at 29 weeks.
I started out a wee bit "underweight." Last time around I gained just over 50 pounds and then promptly lost it all within two weeks of my daughter's birth.
I did start out at just over 100 pounds last time, and this time at 20 pounds heavier was WAY more healthy.
I'm totally excited about holiday yummies and turkey and pie. The way I figure this whole thing is we NEED this for the babe, right? and after she's born we still need it to nurse, right?
Yeah. Bring on the pie.

I started gaining weight too. I don't know where it came from. My activity level and diet have not changed. I went from gaining only 2 pounds to 16! BLECH! I am also worried about the holidays coming.

I have gained a lot too. And my OB kind of got on to me about last appt. I think because it was so fast, 4 lbs first 17 weeks, then like 20 over the next 8 weeks. I gained 40 with DD, 50 with DS1, so I won't be surprised if I hit 60lbs this time. I haven't had any trouble taking it off either.

I told her it stressed me out to worry about my weight, and that I would stop eating if she got onto me.... well, I almost stopped eating. And guess what? I still gained weight!! Wtf? So I give up, I just finished a twix bar!! Yummo!

Same worries here lately too. I thought I'm doing so much better than last time-when I gained 60 lbs. The last month I've packed on. I think I've gained 22-24 and I'm 27 weeks today. I love the comments I get on facebook w/ my belly pics like "oh, looks like another big baby. ur really getting big." Mine all came off but I was hoping to stay under 40. Especially since I'm in my sisters wedding next yr.

Same here...I was kinda all proud of myself for keeping the gain under control...3 lbs in the 1st tri, 10lbs in the second...now it looks like I've gained 6lbs and still have another 1.5 until my next appt ( so I could be looking at 10 lbs in 1 month?!?!? AAAAHHH)

I'm sorry ladies, but I am feeling very disheartened by everyone's serious concerns about their weight gains. This is a totally normal, necessary and GOOD thing for most pregnant women. Society gives us an unreasonable expectation to remain thin no matter what, even when it's not healthy to do so. We are and will be nourishing another life! I am 26 weeks and have gained 20lbs+ and so what?!?!?! As long as it's not all from sweets, it's all good. Give yourselves a break and remind yourselves that you are all in an amazing place and look beautiful and alive to most people (even the men we think we have to stay thin for)

I have to add that it totally and completely stresses me out to get on that scale at my appointments...I mean I DREAD it. And really it is sooooo stupid, I should be focusing on growing a baby!! I wasn't like this with my last 3, I seriously don't know what my problem is this time around

I am not worried about weight gain at all. With my first I gained over 45 pounds and lost all of it and then 10 pounds extra. This time I have gained 20 pounds at 28 weeks - completely normal in my book. Last time I gained 11 pounds in 2 weeks, and since I didn't eat that much more, I would guess it was all baby, even though my OB last time got upset with me. Well, I was not eating that much.

I still don't eat that much, eat a lot of protein, and it's still there. Maybe I will gain 40 pounds with this one. Not a big deal to me at all.

See, I know this, I have a book about having multiples and it talks about how good it is to gain plenty of weight. It was my drs attitude that got me down.

me too, but maybe I am just feeling overly sensitive to this... I had a first appt with yet another provider today... I feel great that I've only picked up 5-6 pounds at 26 weeks. She informed me that the practice "follows set standards" and that due to my pre-pregnancy weight I am only supposed to gain 10-15 lbs which in my mind is telling me I need to lose a few off myself over the course of the pregnancy . I barely graze the government's definition of the "obese" BMI ranking and that is with me being large boned and muscled with some fluff. I never felt uncomfortable with my weight or size until that conversation, now I feel like I have to watch everything that goes into my mouth

Hmmm... I've got about 20 pounds so far, too. I figured if we are doing three trimesters, and if I average ten pounds per trimester, then I'm doing good so far. I started this pregnancy out heavier than my prior two, so it been harder to not beat myself up about the weight. My first I hit 35 lbs extra exactly, my second I LOST weight, so this time around has been tough. I'm not really sweating it though. I figure it will come off, and I don't mind being pregnant in my typical "season of fatness"(the holidays) anyway... Summer is always the time the weight falls off. I didn't get that this summer, as I got pregnant while still wearing most of my holiday weight in the spring, and then didn't do a dang thing all summer(mow grass, garden, run around with kids) because I was indisposed. I figure this baby will be here and breastfeeding happily by late winter, I'll have time to get back on track and on my feet by the time my "season of thinness" rolls around.
