Does Angelina own the name..?

I've always loved the name Pax, for a girl or a boy. Sadly for me, Angelina Jolie named her son Pax. Does she own the name now? Will everyone think of her, or make comments about her when they hear it? My daughters are Sage and Lotus, so something slightly unusual would fit in.

Not at all... at least I didn't think "Angelina" as soon as I heard the name "Pax"... now "Apple" makes me think of Gwyneth Paltrow, so that's another story! LOL

Go for it. I think it's a great name and it fits well with the rest of the bunch!!

You know what, I think it's an awesome name! But, I do immediately think of Angelina upon hearing it.

Nope. I love it. I wanted to have that name on our boy list, but hubby said no (actually it was Paxton)

Maddox and Shiloh seem very Angelinoid to me, but Pax doesn't.

Personally I wouldn't give a second thought to naming my baby and the name happens to be the name of a celebrities kid. Who's gonna remember that when your kids older? No one.

i think pax would be fine. and it sounds like it would work well with your bunch

If anyone asks you about it just give them a blank stare and say, "It's Latin."

Assuming Angelina's Pax stays out of the media as a teenager and adult, it would be okay. Some celebrity children do, some don't. Since many don't, I personally wouldn't use it. Its not a name common enough that you can easily wiggle your way out of if he becomes a big baddie as he grows up.

I really couldn't care less about celebrity folk, so the name didn't ring any bells for me. I realize I'm an American anomaly, though.

Pax is a cool name.

For some reason, I think of Angelina when I hear the name "Maddox"...but not "Pax". I say go for it. It's a great name!

I am having a hard time understanding why anyone thinks that they shouldn't use a name just because a celebrity has, maybe that is just me?
If you like it and it works for your child and your family, go for it!
It isn't an offensive name by any means (the only reason I can think of to absolutely totally avoid a name)
If some people are going to believe that you named your child after her son, well then that is their issue.

There are enough things to think about when naming your child. If it fits your family name and family style, and your personality and his/her personality... why add one more thing?

This is exactly what I was thinking. I also think that the name goes well with your group.

Me too. I forgot she even had a Pax. There's also always naming the baby Paxton but calling him/her Pax.

i know exactly how you feel!
i love the name Suri which is a Hungarian Yiddish version of Sarah and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes took it from me and the entire jewish population as far as i'm concerned. not fair!

A friend of mine has a Paxton, whom she calls Pax. He is older than Angelina's Pax, FWIW. So I think of her not Angelina. I say, go for it.

i have a friend who's dad is hungarian. her name is Sara with a accent thingy over the second a, and its pronounced Sha-da. it is the short form for Sarota (pronounced sha-ro-ta) i love love love both names, but since she would absolutley think i was naming a baby after her (as well as everyone else we know) i can't do it. BUT! it is a hungarian sarah!

and, OP, i DO think of angelina. BUT, if you like it, forget them and go for it! i don't judge someone cause their names are celebs baby names. i think that they liked the name, probably got turned onto it by the celeb and went for it. i don't think that its a form of celebrity worship.
