Still no teeth - when to start worrying?

By this age, DS1 had two teeth on the bottom and was working on getting his top teeth in!! DS2 has zero teeth and when I feel around on the bottom, I don't feel any buds at all. He'll be 8 months on November 3rd.

Anyone else in the same boat?

My brother and his oldest daughter both got their first teeth very late. About 1 yo.

DS2 finally got his 2 bottom middle teeth at 8m 3wks. Now his 2 top middles and next 2 bottoms are making an appearance so he is making up for lost time.

I know another babe who didn't have any teeth until 14 months so there is definitely a big range of normal.

I think that's still within the range of normal. Up to 10 months or so?

My kids both got teeth early, dd had 8 teeth by 8 months and ds 3 or 4.

With teeth it seems like the range of normal is very large.

I got my first tooth at 10mo, and didn't get my 2yo molars till I was like 3yo! Don't worry, your baby won't go to kindergarten with no teeth!

I asked my pediatrician, who said that a pediatric dentist he spoke with said, "call me if there are no teeth at two years old." So apparently there's quite a range of normal here.

FWIW, my DS didn't get his first tooth until 8 months, then got three more in the same week. So far, he gets teeth four at a time. Now I look back fondly on all those teething-free months.

It's pretty common for the first tooth to wait for the first birthday, no worries The longer they are under the gums the better.

My ds just turned 11 months and still no teeth. I sure do hope that is normal. I'm going to watch this thread intently.

Wow, that is a big range. My goodness! I had no idea. Good to know that this is still normal. He's doing so many other things a bit earlier than his big bro did, I just thought that the teeth part would follow suite!

Funny I had a thread JUST LIKE THIS about a year ago.

DS2 never got any teeth until almost exactly his first birthday.

He still doesnt have them all. Hes missing like 4 or 5 i think. The other day we were at the store, and we bumped into a friend and her older kids. THey were all, LOOK, hes lost some teeth already! im like, uhhhh no. He just hasnt gotten them yet.

And FWIW, his brother had even his three year molars by the time he was 18 months.

There aren't 3yo molars. They get 2 sets of bicuspids "1yo molars" and "2yo molars". They only get 20 teeth in this first flush. Then no more for a few years.

Dd had all hers fully in well before she turned 2 as well.

8 months would even be blimp on my mommy owrry radar.. I think my first gots her first around 9/10 months were at 7.5 with no signs and I know MINE didn't come in till a year.. The range is very wide.

DD got her first 6 teeth within 2 weeks of hitting 10.5 months.

9.5 months here and no teeth. I have no complaints considering we breastfeed around the clock. Apparently everyone on my side of the family was a late teether.

DD2 just broke through with her first tooth at 7 months, and we're all shocked at how early it is! DD1 and I were both around 9 months, DH was 11 months, and his sister was a year!

I don't personally have expirence in this, but I can't tell you how many times I've heard my MIL talk about how my BIL didn't have teeth until he was 14 months old. There's a pretty big "normal" space with teeth and 8 months old wouldn't worry me in the slightest.
