another 15day LP and neg hpt thread :-)

Inpsired by the spate of threads on 'late af and negative hpt', i wanted to add my own experience.

I did not expect to be pregnant this cycle, was so lacking in confidence, that i didnt take my usual progesterone supplementation.(200mg/day) I take this because my LP is usually at 7/8 days, sometimes with spotting on day 5 (im breastfeeding and older)

Not only did my LP get to 14 days this month (a miracle for me, i didnt take progesterone), but its still going at at day15!!
I got a neg on the hpt, i have spotting, and have been cramping for days.

I know i ovulated.

Another poster (brookemw85-hope you dont mind if i mention your experience) on a recent thread talked about very heavy af, and cramping for days prior, and an especially long LP. This cycle, i had cramping so bad at one point, it felt like labor seriously. And now this long LP (still no af, but spotting)

Anyway, whats up with these long luteal phases and neg hpts?

My LP last month was 19 days - that's 19 days of high temps with AF being 5 days late. BFN. Talk about a disappointment. I had HORRIBLE cramps during ovulation and then again (though nowhere near as bad) just before AF. I also bled more this time. I chalk it all up to being my first month on Clomid, since this is definitely not the norm for me.

I think messing around with supplements can cause havoc in a woman's cycle. (not saying not to take them, just they creat emotional havoc! ) I also think, an inaccurate O date for whatever reason (charting is only as exact as the user and sometimes, I take the therm out of my mouth too soon, or lack of 3 hours consecutive sleep can create inaccurate temps) and also LPs can vary a little (even for those not taking anything to try and lengthen). Or it could be chemical pgs not picked up by an hpt.
so many possibilities. to those frustrated by it.

I would love to know what has caused my LP to be so long lately. I used to always have a 9-day LP and then lately it's been averaging 12-14 days but last cycle I went 16 days and this cycle, 15 days. It really messes with my mind because I start to believe I *could* be pregnant. I guess a long LP is a good thing? But it sure is annoying and seems to make AF much worse (last cycle I had labor-type cramping as well, this cycle it's *slightly* better so far...

GaleTX - 19 days?? I would've thought you'd get a BFP for sure by then.

ETA: HulaJenn, are there specific supplements that mess with the LP more than others? I started taking tons of stuff a few months ago (for unrelated issues) -- Mag, Vit. D, Iron, B12, B-Complex, Zinc....

The irony for me is that this month i took no supplements at all.

Apparently a luteal cyst cant cause a long LP. I for one, am very happy i have my normal LP back, but hope i dont have a luteal cyst (off to google the symptoms of that)

Also the intense cramping...that was weird.
Nice to hear others have had similar experiences.

I know for one, that i definitely had alot of natural progesterone in my system this time-high temps, symptoms, as well as plenty of creamy white mucus (apparently that comes from progesterone) Could have been pregnancy related, but in my case probably not....
