How do I remove newspaper smudges from plastic?

The title pretty much says it all. I have some white plastic spice racks that were wrapped in newspaper. They're all smudgy now. I have washed them in hot soapy water, but to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? Hopefully natural ones? Thanks!

Try a paste of baking soda and water.

I'd try alcohol or nail polish remover.

Thanks everyone! I'll try these. I'll start with the baking soda, as it is my usual go-to cleaning product and proceed to the windex and alcohol if that doesn't work. I'm also trying to de-mustify my washer, if anyone has any takes on that. I found an internet site that recommended dishwasher detergent. It's a little better, but not much. Today I'll hit it with vinegar and baking soda & may have to go to bleach if that doesn't work. I love love love my new house, but moving does have its downsides.

Is your washer fl or tl?

I have to leave my fl open between load. To dry out or it starts smelling yucky. Also, cleaning the gasket around the doir can help, as it tends to hid grossness.
