What goes on sale around the holidays? (for stocking up)

What should we begin planning to stock up those pantries???

I think baking supplies (flour, sugar, ???). Also canned green beans and cream of mushroom soup???

What are you planning on buying on sale over the next couple months?

These are the things I usually see:
flour
sugar (white, brown, powdered)
shortening
chocolate chips
baking chocolate
canned pumpkin
canned cranberries (jellied & whole)
boxed stock/broth
canned veggies
stuffing mix
pre-made pie crusts
evaporated & sweetened condensed milk
crackers
nuts

I don't buy all of these things b/c we don't use them all, but some of the stuff is a great bargain!

Fresh and canned pumpkin and cranberries are the ones that l look for at this time of year. I buy more of the following because of holiday baking: flour, sugar, raisins, shortening and butter, spices, eggs and take advantage of the sales. But stocking up on flour and spices isn't wise unless you use them up within a reasonable time. Both will go stale/"bad" over time.

I buy holiday hams to freeze and then make throughout the yr later on for things like bean soup and such. I also stock up on at least 1 or 2 extra turkeys again for cooking later on. DH usually cuts them in 1/2 (unfrozen) and then I wrap up nicely to freeze. 1/2 is a good family sized for regular use.
