20 month old son & clementines

Should I be worried? lol, my 20 month old son ate 6 clementines yesterday and already has had 9 today!!

I wouldn't worry! Obviously he needs something in them, and really like thems. See my earlier post on "Momma, I looooove your brocollis!" It'll be back to chicken nuggets & hotdogs before you know it, lol!

Besides, they're so small, 3 clementines must equal like only one small orange. DS1 has been known to eat 4 apples in one day. I'm not compaining! As long as he's not getting a bunch of other sugar, you should be fine.

My son will gobble those things up too. The only difference I noticed was that the poo was quite full of citrus fruit and kind of sore on his bum if I didn't get it immediately.

The only thing I would worry about is that diaper will be disgusting! And probably cause a nasty rash.

My DD1 did thsi last year. The only issue we had was if we didn't change her within 5 minutes of a poop she'd get a rash. If you catch them quick though i can't see a problem. I've been known to eat 5 or 6 of them at a time.

My guy is obsessed with mandarin oranges. As others have mentioned, the acid can and likely will cause a rash. I just put on some cream ahead of time if he eats a lot in one day.

Just saw this on new posts.

My daughter loves them. Just watch the poops....they will burn their little bums.

I wouldn't let my DD have that many, because it would definitely lead to serious bum rash for her. But we have to be careful with acidic food with her.

If you need to scale back, you will probably find out really quick!

I really, really want a clementine now. Yum.

Let him have at 'em! But as others said, putting a cream on his butt in advance is a good idea to protect his skin when the acidic #2 comes through.

When my DD was that age, she loved prunes, and I'd let her have one or two a day. One time I took a nap and inadvertently left the prunes within her reach. DH didn't think anything of it when she started eating them. When I woke up, the entire 18 oz. container was empty! I swear we changed 20 or 30 #2 diapers that day...

My kids love clementines (and I do too ). I do try to limit DD a little bit, to only 1 or 2 per day because of the rash concern, her bum is a bit sensitive.

Thanks ladies! I have them out in the kitchen in a bowl, and he knows exactly where they are, he's like this with whole wheat bread sometimes too, well not nearly as bad, I will definitely use the cream. His poops have been quite orange! lol

That is too cute!

When DD went through a clementine phase last winter, it led to middle of the night poops for some reason. Offering the clementines at lunchtime instead helped the middle of the night poops go away.

ds did that and we were fine with it, until it made his butt bleed! Then we limited the number he could have in a day.
