Folliculitis (pimples all over)

Hi All,

My sixth month old has been breaking out in pimples on arms, legs and face. Every week there are a few new break outs. The dermatologist thinks it's folliculitis or a bug bite reaction. He prescribed antibiotics. Has anyone dealt with a similar issue. How did you treat it?

My daughter had it and we did nothing. It went away on its own. We think it was from chlorine. Has your child been in a pool? Typically it is a "hot tub" illness. In her case we know she was in a chlorinated pool alot and was not used to it since we had just moved to AZ. She had a similar reaction to disposable diapers as a baby. She was fine when we switched to unbleached cloth. I hope you find answers soon.

What kind of soaps and lotions do you use? Are you nursing, and if so, could your LO be allergic to something in your diet? What about solid foods?

my daughter gets it as part of her allergic reaction. I wouldn't just treat with antibiotics, unless he's tested to see if it's actually bacteria, yeast or an allergic reaction. Or even just dry skin.

Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions. We do live in the city with heavily chlorinated water. I'm going to put a filter on our faucet. But why pimples only on arms, legs, face? Any thoughts?

Thanks!
