Fleas and A SIMPLE SOLUTION THAT WORKS!!!

I was so worried recently when I found out that my dog had fleas for the first time in the 6 years that we had him... We have been using natural products for the last 2.5 years and I have kind of been a little more relaxed in the last month or so d/t being so tired after the summer and being newly pregnant. Anyway, when I found out he had fleas I didn't know what I would do b/c being pregnant there was no way I was going to do anything toxic and didn't know if anything natural at that point after a flea infestation would work...

Anyway, I called our holistic doctor and he recommend:

sprinkling sea salt all over the floors

and anytime I vacuumed reapplying or within 7 days or less depending on the infestation of fleas (if it is really bad) applying less than 7 days. He also recommended spraying the dog with handmade spray of:

4oz hydrogen peroxide
12 oz water and
3 tbs of borax

every 7 days or less as well. He said that when the fleas are on the floor they will eat the salt b/c what they love so much is the taste of salt in animal blood and when they eat the seasalt they get dehydrated and die!!! And he said that the handmade solution would also help the dog with the itching, inflammation and bites to not get infected that were already on his skin All naturally!! Woo hoo!! It works, it really works and no chemicals!

Just thought was so amazing, simple and natural, I wanted to share it since I know flea infestations can be so common!! HTH

Thanks for this post! I have used advantage on my pets (2 dogs and a cat) and I can't seem to get rid of the fleas. One of my dogs is allergic to flea bites so she has sores all over from scratching. The other pets don't seem to be bothered as much. I did the sea salt going to get some borax asap and try that spray.

I thought borax wasn't safe for pets to ingest?

Oh, dear. Yes, borax shouldn't be used on or around pets. It could irritate his skin and if he licks it off, it could even be fatal.

Borax may be "natural" but it's a very toxic chemical - definitely far more toxic than the insecticide in something like Advantage or Frontline.
