My baby is a fatty fat fat

My 13 week old baby is EBF on demand and has always been on the 50th percentile, right on the line!
Seemingly overnight, she seemed to go from a lean baby, to the Stay Puft Marshmallow man and now she's in the 95th percentile for weight (she is 15.65lbs). Obviously I'm not planning on restricting feeding or taking her to baby zumba or anything, but is this a cause for concern at all? Is cream coming out of my breasts?

nak

what chart are you using? try the WHO chart - now the gold standard - and see if that makes a difference to her curve: http://www.who.int/childgrowth/stand...irls_p_0_6.pdf

and if she is fed from the breast on demand, the only time when fast wt gain would be a concern is with a medical condition (rare). Enjoy the rolls!

Awwww, enjoy the chub!!! I love me some fat baby. My youngest is Fatty McFatterson! I love to squish the big fat thighs.
Perfectly normal. Breastfed babies, IME, always get real big real fast and then they level out (this is something that we see when we look at WHO growth charts) later on and become a more appropriate weight for length.

Thanks for the replies, happy to know it's normal I was just a bit alarmed that she stacked it on so fast! She skipped 3-6 month clothing and is nearly wearing 6 month clothes >_>;
I guess the food's good.

Can we see some pics? I love a fat baby. Too bad fat isn't as cute when we get older. I think it is quite normal for a baby that age to pack it on. They barely move and just eat and sleep all day. We would get fat too! When she starts getting more mobile she will likely gain more slowly.

I had a Fatty McGee as well, although she got to 95% even earlier. Once she started walking she dropped back down to 50%. I loved it because I never had to worry she was getting enough milk, which I always did with my first, leaner babe. Enjoy!

p.s. I love the thread title.

heh. Baby Zumba

My first two were huge (and are still big. Not overweight, just big.). I look back at pictures and can't believe how many rolls they had . Ds2 was (and is) a peanut. All three fed on demand, exclusively breastmilk (except ds1 who spent a bit of time in the NICu and had some formula early on). Weird how genetics works. Apparently dh was a Fatty McFatterson baby, and I was tiny.
