DD2 is 4 and spends her days with me. She does go to preschool 3 mornings a week, but other than that, she's my little sidekick
. Grocery shopping, playground, errands, library, she's right there with me, being super-helpful and funny and fun. We do crafts, read books, she helps me fold laundry and we cook together. Our days are lovely.... until DS and DD1 get off the schoolbus
. We aren't even back to the house from the bus stop when the fighting, whining, crying and arguing starts. I want to give my older children some attention ~ ask about their day, get them a snack, chat a little, but DD2 does everything in her power to prevent me from having meaningful interaction with her older brother and sister.
Yesterday, DD1 was home sick from school, and DD2 groused all day that she wished her sister was at school and she could be all alone with Mama. What can I do here? I spend from 8:30am-3:30pm every day with her, but it still isn't enough. How can I balance the needs of my older children (they need me a lot too, at 6 and almost 9)? How can I help my youngest understand that she cannot be the center of the universe?
