I also can't stand Mr. Potato Head. I have no idea why. It never gets played with, but DS won't let me get rid of it. I actually got rid of a set we had because he never touched it, but then he convinced Grandma to get him an even bigger set that still doesn't get touched.
LOL! And this is a huge hit in our house with DD. So funny!

We currently have no toys that I hate, but I am pretty brutal about not replacing batteries. Ever. Until the lightup obnoxious toys loss their appeal. I also am fearless about donating toys that are terrible. But, it took us 9 months to get rid of all of the crap toys from last Christmas.

Do it. I cannot think of a single toy in our house that has gotten more play! (well we had the cozy coup but they are basically the same thing) We bought it used when dd was 2. She is 14 now. We got rid of it last year. The neighbor girl is now having a blast with it and will probably get another 2 or three years of fun out of it. So at least five kids over the last...what...15 or 16 years and counting! How can you go wrong? I think we paid $10 for ours. Maybe you could find one used?

Oh and least favorite toy my kid loves. Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with a lot of their toys. Probably the most irritating is American girl Kyra doll. So many reasons. It came with baggage. (not suit cases...just baggage.)

Well now I know where Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head can go for a visit.

We've got that truck and it has gotten tons of use. DD uses it in her outdoor pretend play all the time.

They never really wanted to make it go. They mostly liked to sit in it and pretend they were going somewhere. I would have REALLY hated it if I'd had to push it around.
My experience with boys is that they want things to work. If it has wheels, it should move. I'd try to find something he could self propel...

What about this?

one of those lawn mowers that grinds when you push it, and balls fly around in a circle. Even my three year old loves that stupid thing (that my mother got him for his first birthday)

It magically disappeared into the basement the other day.

i love playmobil. so does my ds and dd so easy to find a wide varitiy of themes and add pieces some for not much.

the only toy that pops in my mind is a gun that lights up and vibrates and screaches different sounds. any huge toy knowing that we dont have the space for them.

I love it too. When you compare it to these:

My sister showed it to DS in Toy-R-Us one time and I was just to her, so she didn't buy it. Fortunately DS was still at the age where we could just say "goodbye" to things in stores happily.

Totally made her cry.

I also do not like Littlest Pet Shop toys. They are so ugly and there are too many plastic pieces to "collect". DD has loved those for a few years and I don't see it ending soon.
yes had that HATED IT!

Leap Frog

On the topic of hated Leap products, I do not like Baby Tad. He was a gift. I left him at Grandma's house for a long time for our kids to enjoy there, but my parents sent him with us when we moved. Our kids all love that toy.

I can say though, that I find the quality of the speakers on the Leap toys to be slightly better than most other electronic toys.

I much prefer wind up music box type music in toys, but it's getting harder and harder to find those. We have one with a pull string, and I don't mind it.

I especially hate any talking toy that promises to be your best friend... or that asks for hugs, or kisses.

These drive me crazy. And for some reason people tend to give them to my kids. Maybe they secretly hate me.

We bought something like that (except it is a fire truck) for DD's second birthday. She loved it, loved it, loved it! Still loves it and she'll be four next month. The seat is low enough to the ground and it's light enough that even very young toddlers can push it around with their feet while sitting down. Now DS uses it all the time. In fact, so do all the neighbor kids. They ride in it, push one another, pile things in the back, play store with it. Really, how could I hate something that keeps the kids busy, outside, active, and engaged for hours, year after year? Sure, it's plastic and ugly, but it stays outside.

The fire truck is less expensive so maybe that makes it more palatable?

hee hee...that was my son's fave and I have so many fond memories...it was a lifesaver at times when he couldn't be consoled. We still have the pup and when I hear it sing it warms my heart of time gone by.

If you are going to get a wheeled toy, 2.5 is the perfect age to start using a balance bike. My ds got his for christmas (he was almost 2.5) and he uses it every single day and has great balance on it now! It also takes up a lot less space than those large hunks of plastic.

Despite my best efforts, my baby is so not into the wooden toys that ive bought. My stepmother bought her this snail that plays the tune of "if youre happy and you know it.."

That thing is so annoying, but she loves it.

We've been looking at balance bikes for years, and may get one in the spring.

Winter is coming though, and the average snowfall for Montreal is just under seven feet. We might look a nice sled for outside use.

I think we can scrape up enough space for the crappy plastic truck to be used in the house for the winter. A balance bike... not so much!

I hate plastic generally and stick to wood and cloth toys, but I have to say, this "little black truck" is a favorite of all of us! We found it on Craigslist along with a few Cozy Coupes. It's not that heavy at all and DS2 has been able to drive it and the coupes since well before two. Of course, both the boys also enjoy pushing it and racing downhill with it (with or without a passenger- yes we've had some crashes!).

Well, this isn't exactly a toy, but the soprano recorder DD got for school is marginally tolerable in her hands, but REALLY NOT OKAY in the hands of her 2yo brother. Of course he is crazy about the thing.

A Wheels on the Bus electronic toy. Oh God how I hate it. I am constantly stepping on the stupid riders in my barefeet. The tune sounds like some kind of demon is singing along while playing an out of tune banjo.

And I have no one but myself to blame since I got it at a garage sale not realizing it was a battery toy.

Not yet. My DD literally only has a handful of toys. I'm sure that will soon change w/ her upcoming bday and Christmas, but for now, she doesn't have enough for me to be annoyed by, lol!
