We are ready to transition from co-sleeping to crib.

Our son is 7.5 months and we are ready to transition to him sleeping in his crib during naps as well as nighttime.

None of us are sleeping well during the night and I think that is an indication it is time. Jake is getting pretty predicatable with his wake and sleep times as well. He seems to fuss even when we lay down for naps/nighttime sleep in the family so I think it is just a process he goes through prior to falling asleep.

Any ideas or suggested are really needed.

I used to put DS down for the night in his crib. Then, if/when he woke during the night (if I was already in bed) I took him to bed with me. This way, he was gently encouraged to sleep by himself, but if he was having an unusually needy night, I was there for him without resentment. Putting him back in the crib in the middle of the night, especially if it happened repeatedly, was very stressful for both of us.

When teething or sick, I dealt with having less sleep and was there for him. But overall, he slept longer stretches by himself in the crib and we all got better rest.

Thanks for your reply.

Did you lay your little one down in the crib when he was tired or when he was already asleep?

I did the same thing. I also started putting dd in her crib at nap times.

eta: I laid dd down when she was asleep.
