Periods with Mirena?

I have had a Mirena IUD for over a year, and I am still getting periods. I also have more spotting, so the periods last over a week (although not heavy at all).
It sucks. I thought Mirena was supposed to take away your period, or is this one of those side effects that only applies to some?

I hate birth control.

In the 3.5 years I had Mirena, I always had a period. It was super light, but still there.

Ditto Danielle283...I've had mine in for 10 months and I still get spotting every month. Sometimes it'll only last for 2-3 days, other time it's up to 10 days! Not enough that I really even need a panty liner, but it's still there all the same.

The last time I had the Mirena (two babies ago) my periods completely disappeared after the third month. So I gues both can be "normal".

I have only had mine a few months but I have a full period (5-7 full days) and some spotting. I also thought Mirena was going to reduce my cycle but it has not.....

Same here. They were light and only lasted 4 or so days, but came right on time every cycle.
