Pregnant, sick, and in hell- Help!

Last week I had an upper respiratory infection, sinus infection, and severe ear infection with total blockage of my left Eustachian tube. The doctor put me on antibiotics and antihistamines but the tube is stubbornly staying closed after a week of abx.

I feel like I'm underwater, my ear is ringing and I can't hear out of it, and I am exhausted, dizzy and nauseous on top of the exhaustion, dizziness and nausea I have had for the whole 7 months of my pregnancy.

If I could get knocked unconscious for the rest of this pregnancy, I would gladly do it right now. :cry

I'm so sorry!
BTDT with the ears and I know how awful it is. Hopefully it clears up soon for you.

Thanks, Lauren

I was so busy feeling sorry for myself that I forgot to add:

Does anyone have any suggestions for anything I could do to feel better in any way? I feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained. I can't do anything but watch TV and sleep and I'm so tired of it.

Yuck, ear problems are the worst. It's funny how something so small can have such a huge effect on your daily activities. I have had a chronicly blocked eustachian tube for several years and have found that oral antibiotics don't work, but otic suspensions are great. Also after a severe infection the only way to unclog the tube may be having your doctor clean your ear out for you. It is shocking how much better you feel afterward. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Is that something they can do right in the office if I request it? I feel like the infection is gone, all of my mucus and stuff is clear and the pain is gone, it's just the crazy pressure and ringing in the ear now and I am having a really hard time dealing with it.

have you tried having a chiropractor target your ears and sinuses?

Have you tried candling your ears? Or using some warm water to dissolve some of the build-up?

I have found, too, that the more fluid you can take in, the better your chances are of the dizziness going away.

Feel better, Mama!

I ruptured my ear drum last summer and got a wicked infection. The ONLY thing that helped was having my chiro adjust my ears. It really, really helped.
Sorry you are feeling so lousy.

I agree with the candling. It really does work! I think you can get them at whole foods or other health food stores. Maybe Vitamin Shoppe? Have you tried infusing olive oil with garlic, warming it and putting it in your ear? it works for me at the first sign of an ear infection, but I've never tried it after one already develops. I've been able to avoid ear infections completely with this method!

I had chronic dizziness and light-headedness all last summer. I went to western doctors and hematologists and nothing helped except accupuncture. I also felt energized for a day or two after every treatment.

I had the flu during one of my scheduled appointments and called to cancel. He told me to come in anyway. I threw up right before I went and was feeling horrible until about halfway through the treatment. I walked out feeling tired but didn't feel nauseous at all after that.

If nothing else is working, it might be worth a try, even if you're a skeptic.
