overnight diapers- Please help!

Ok veteran mamas, I could sure use your help on this. I tend to be a rambler so I'll try to keep this simple and just give you facts.

I have a 2-month old daughter who, mostly, sleeps through the night. We'll spend anywhere from 7-9 hours in bed sleeping and nursing all through the night. Well, obviously that's a long time between diaper changes and we've been having some problems with leaks.

I'll tell you what I have in my diaper stash, and I'm hoping some of yall could help me come up with a system or cobble together a combo of diapers and inserts, etc. that will help us. I can't afford to buy anything new, so I need to work with what I have if possible.

We have:
  • Plenty of unbleached cotton prefolds (from Bummis and Green Mountain)
  • Several Fuzzibunz pocket diapers with inserts
  • Several diaper covers, including a couple of Thirsties, 3 Bummis, some older-model Econokids, and some Bumkins. These are all your standard PUL/waterproof covers with leg gussets and snap or velcro closures.
  • A bunch of different kinds of doublers to go with the pocket diapers, such as microfleece/terry washcloths and some spare pieces of fleece.
  • Disposable diapers, including Pampers Swaddlers, Huggies Little Snugglers and Parent's Choice (the Wal-mart brand)- all in size 1.
  • Some size 4 overnight disposable diapers. The overnight diapers are only available in sizes 4 and up at the store I went to, so I thought I'd get these even tho they're too big and just try to wrap them real snug around my little girl. Well I've tried it and it hasn't worked....she just pees up the back and they leak.

So...any ideas? TIA!

You need some hemp or bamboo inserts for nighttime. They are way more absorbent than anything else. Spend some money for the thicker ones like Joey Bunz or Thirsties, not the thin 2-layer ones. Double them with a microfiber and stuff into a pocket diaper.

We use FuzziBunz and for a time we were having leaks, too. Then we bought some hemp doublers and haven't had a problem since! If you are noticing leaks with the FBs, you might also need to strip them.

My guy soaks 2 trifolded Bummis pfs each night, so that's where i'd start. We do have to use wool, we get leaks w pul. Over time ive had to add more to my 2 pfs, at this point (13 mos) we're at 2pfs, a hemparoo and a loopydo.

Thanks all.

So....hemp seems to be the way to go! I'll put it on my list. But in the meantime, since I can't buy anything new for the next few weeks (we're severely broke and on a budget ), is there anything any of yall can think of me trying using the stash we already have, as listed in my OP?

If so, please let me know your ideas or what you've tried! TIA again....

I would use a fuzzibunz with its insert and add a doubler in the pocket, then cover with a PUL cover.
I was using fuzzibunz with doubler and insert and no leaks until recently. Now I added a wool cover and no leaks at all. But if you don't have wool, I think you could just try a regular cover over the fuzzibunz.

I would do this with a wool or fleece cover. You'd only need one cover.

I don't have any advice better than that which you've been given, but I was definitely interested in this thread because I am not new to cloth dipes, but new to cloth for an infant and my son is 3 days older than your little girl! We've had lots of probs with wet nights ourselves. With my older babies I used a Polar Bummi + 1 or 2 pf + a hemp doubler, but Urban doesn't have enough room b/tw his thighs for all that!
