VBAC advice please!

Hi everyone..

I'm new to the site but have really been searching for answers on the VBAC forums lately.

I'm just now pregnant about 7-8 weeks with my second baby. My first baby was born due to emergency c-section. His heart rate was fluctuating and apparently it was necessary. Anyways, my c-section with DS was 8.5 months ago. So, my question is.. is it safe to try a VBAC with such little time inbetween births? I guess the VBAC would be tried with 16 months in between... is that a long enough time for healing?

Also, does anyone have a way to find VBAC friendly doctors in Detroit, Michigan area? I just wondered if there is a list or something somewhere?

any advice would be appreciated.. I realy don't want to have another c-section.. =/

There shouldn't be a problem at all with that time frame. I'm in Metro Detroit too, I wish I had a good list of VBAC friendly docs, but try the Tribal Areas and post there. There is a local BirthNetwork that will have some info for you and also check out ICAN.

Good luck with your VBAC provider search! It might be easier as there was a big research study just released recommending VBACs rather than repeat c/s. ACOG is endorsing it and my MW felt it would promote good change.

I had a successful VBAC last month and it was wonderful - very much a healing experience after my son's long, traumatic birth.

Best wishes to you
