...with activity suggestions, or literature links of other books to read, or internet links. My dd is asking so many history questions, LOL! I am thinking of a book that shows things on pages in an actual timeline. Or, something that has a timeline we can do together as we are going through it. Or, any websites that would be helpful? Some Canadian history in there would be great too.
Just to give you an idea of what kind of a whole to part rabbit trail type learner she is...this is a kid who started surfing the American Girl site, and all the historical characters, which has led to things like the Great Depression (Kit is her favorite character) and asking about fashions in the 1930's and how the economy changed after WWII, , other characters like Addy have helped us learn Mancala, talk about slavery, leading to the American revolution, leading to Americans fighting on Canadian soil, which has taken us into Canadian History, the Acadians, etc (as we have now found an Our Canadian Girl book series, LOL!) Whew. I can totally see she needs some sort of timeline and she relates well to that. When she was younger, history was sort of things like "well, Grandma was a baby then...etc" . Something so she can sense the place of things and have an overall overview KWIM? She is 10 and a fluent reader, and loves pictures/video too.
This would be a supplement to possibly Story of the World, or History Oddessy. I have been on the History Oddessy website. I am NOT a classical gal, LOL and neither is DD. There is NO way that we would be doing all the notebooking, etc, and follow it like it would be meant to in a classical sense (eclectic/unschooler here) but I like the lit links in STOW for example.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
