Pertussis Only Vaccine

I'm sure I know the answer to this. But have to ask since I haven't been keeping up of late. Is there a Pertussis-only vax yet. With all this talk of adults get vaxed for it I'm just thinking surely.... What do they get?

'Bout 2 years ago I got a request from employee health to come get a tetanus booster w/ pertusis. Pretty sure it had diptheria too. I'm not aware of a pertusis only shot, but I believe you can get a tetanus/diptheria one.

Pertussis always comes with diphtheria and tetanus.

Kids 6 and under get DTaP. People ages 10-64 get Tdap. Boostrix and Adacel are the two available brands in the U.S. for Tdap.

Here is a list, with links to the package inserts, for all vaccines licensed in the U.S. So you can verify that there is no pertussis-only vaccine.

My understanding is that the Diptheria portion of the DTaP and Tdap is necessary for the Pertussis portion to work. I don't know the details though...

You can get DT alone, but you can't get just Pertussis.
