When you make cookies, do you ever get the amount the recipe says you should get?

I just made some cookies & I thought I made them pretty small. The recipe said drop by teaspoon . . ., which I was kinda doing. I got 2 dozen - the recipe said I should get 3 dozen!

I know that sometimes I make big cookies on purpose (big cookies are fun!) and will definitely get less than the recipe says, but I swear I have NEVER gotten what it says I should!!

Does anyone!?!

For me, it really depends on the recipe--but mostly, no. I usually get about 25% fewer cookies than the recipe thinks I should and sometimes it is more like half. I've tried a couple of times with my chocolate chip cookie recipe to get approximately the number of cookies the recipe says I should get, but I prefer the way the centers of the cookies turn out when I make them larger.

Rarely. Although once i got a cookie scooper, i got closer.

Not even with a cookie scooper.

I've never actually counted! But I'd say no because little elves have been known to eat the dough while the other cookies are baking.

No, I usually get fewer than the recipe suggests. I know I tend to make cookies a little large though.

OK - glad to know it's not just me! I still get less than what the recipe says, even using a measured scoop!

I wonder how they figure the yields anyway!?! Little bite-size cookies, I guess.

Nope, I don't think I've ever got as many cookies as the recipe says I should.

When I make pecan tassies I do, for drop cookies I don't even pay attention to how many it's supposed to make.

I never do, even when I follow the instructions if it says "drop by rounded teaspoon/tablespoon," etc.

I once got a dozen with a recipe that claimed it made 3 dozen. i didn't even make the cookies huge like I normally do. I have NO CLUE how it was THAT off.

I don't usually count, but I'd say no, never.

Wow, I must be super stingy because I usually get more than recipe calls for!

I go OCD and divide the dough up so I get the right number. Like if it makes 24 cookies, I'll divide the dough in half (each half is 12), then half again (6), then half again (3) and then eyeball the 3 cookies from each little dough lump. I do the same thing for meatballs. Yes I realize this is insane.

Actually that is a good idea.

No, that's actually a lot smarter than my haphazard whatever-ends-up-on-the-spoon-on-the-first-scoop approach. I always end up with some big ones and some small ones.

Never. I use the same size scoop no matter what the recipe says, plus I eat some raw dough.

Never here too!
