Do you think PBS will ever feature a cartoon with gay characters?

I was reading something recently about how happy some people are that a few PBS morning cartoons feature mixed-race families (Sid the Science Kid, Martha Speaks). I was thinking, "That's great, but my goodness, how sad that that's JUST NOW starting to happen!"

It made me wonder, do you think we'll ever progress to the point where a PBS morning cartoon would feature gay parents raising a family?

I believe Letters from Buster (is that the name?) already did.

Yeah, I guess some do in an indirect way like that. I remember one time on Sesame Street, Elmo did a segment on families, and IIRC they showed lots of different types of families: mom/dad/kids, grandma/mom/kids, two moms/kids, etc.

But IMO that's not quite the same as having the central family featured on the show being a same-sex couple with children, the way on Sid the Science Kid and Martha Speaks the parents of the main child characters, who are featured in every show, are mixed-race.

Ummm, Ernie and Bert don't count? I know they aren't cartoons, but......
