Scarlet fever... now have the peeling skin??

I need some advice for DS. He is finally on the mend from Scarlet Fever. Thank goodness he is feeling better and back to doing well however this peeling skin . OH MY....

Anyone BTDT? His hands and feet are the worst. He is using a loofah in the shower, and showering 2x a day. Using a body scrub to get the dead skin off. During the day he is using either Aveeno lotion or Eucerin lotion to help with the rough dry skin that is left behind. Lots of Burts bees on the lips.

I feel so bad for him. This is going on about a week now and no end in sight. DS is 10 and coping well, not picking etc but I still feel so bad for him...

HELP

Have you tried calendula lotion or cream? It works great for me, when I get sunburn. It helps the skin heal and keep from peeling.

IDK what is going on with my kiddo. Last night he woke up sick again. Fever 102, puking, headache, obvious stomach ache. Today he is just yucky. He has been sick now for close to a month straight. He looks so pathetic...

No, I've not heard of those creams however with SF, you really need to get the dead skin off so its a balance between getting the skin off and not looking funky when he goes out and about. HE calls his hands 'lizard hands'
I dont want him to pick at the skin for fear he will get an infection etc...

This is becoming the never-ending illness

I had the peeling skin on my hands and feet after a bad case of strep this spring. It took probably two weeks for my hands to look normal again.
