Is this an allergy to epsom salts?

We have done epsom salt bath for a long time, but moved to a new house with only a shower. It has been a few months, but finally got a tote and have been giving my kids (3 and 1) baths with a cup or more of epsom salts. All of a sudden they are sleeping so well. But now they are both developing eczema rashes like they are eating dairy. And they are very dry. So the salts are helping with sleep, but they are getting rashy, not just dry. What is up with that? Until I could get a tote, I was giving them natural calm magnesium, and it did nothing for us it seems.

And natural calm did nothing for me muscle wise but after doing epsom salt soaks again, I feel amazing and my tooth sensitivity goes away (as long as I stick with the soaks). My skin is drier than usual, but it could be the weather for me?

I find them very drying if I don't rinse with plain water afterwards.

Could be the Epsom salts are triggering some detox, which may move through the skin.

I thought drying off would be enough if I don't get around to it, but will make sure from now on.

I guess could be opening the sulfate pathway?

So a few days without epsom salt soaks, and my kids are a mess at night again. But during the day, my dd is an itching mess. Errg!

I've been doing a body coating with rosemary infused evoo after es baths. Makes my skin feel great and I think it might even help the mag soak in better.

Sounds lovely - but not a good idea for folks doing the Epsom salts to help with salicylates (olive oil & rosemary are both super high in sals, and sals absorb through the skin).

Thanks for telling me this since we have been using olive oil alot lately since dd reacts to most oils. Palm oil is even out!
