Barefoot in sandals = smelly little feet

We are in sandals most of the year. Couple months ago I bought some Crocs for DS. He liked them, easy to get on and off and seemingly comfy. He developed a fungal infection w/ skin peeling, itchiness. The sandals were quite smelly for such little feet. We stopped using them thinking it was the material. I got him some Keen sandals and as I took them off last night I got flashbacks from the Crocs. Same problem, no infection yet though. His feet can get quite sweaty sometimes. Insoles? Socks are not practical all the time, it can get quite hot here. Any ideas? Someone with the same issue? Thanks.

Baking soda bath for the sandals. Only thing that worked over here.

DD's feet get very sweaty and smelly in her skidder slippers. We shake a little powder in them at night and that seems to do the trick.

just clean them once or twice a week & you should be fine. I clean our sandals w/ the same spray I use to clean most things in our house 1/2 white vinegar 1/2 water & a few drops of tea tree oil.

My son wore his Keens all summer with no socks and OMG, his feet reeked. I put baby powder in the sandals and washed his feet every night.

Two pairs of shoes, take a day off after every wearing.

My DS had Keens that he wore all summer and his feet STUNK terribly. I would wash them and nothing seemed to help!

If you have a dishwasher, put the Crocs in there. If you do it, turn off the heated dry cycle (if you have one) or take them out and air dry them to avoid shrinkage.
