My DS is 2.5 and has been wearing underpants exclusively during the day for two months. He has never been a frequent pooper (both my kids were the every 8 days sort as little babies). He is still at least half breastfed and just doesn't eat all that much food. So I don't feel like it's a problem that he only goes every other day. His poop isn't overly firm (maybe just slightly?) and he goes every other day reliably.
On non-poop days he rarely has a pee accident. On poop days, he rarely doesn't have at least one. He mostly still poops in his pants. This is getting old. But right now my concern is the link between needing to poop and having pee accidents. I feel like the pants-pooping will sort itself out with time (I hope!).
Does the fact that he is incontinent when he needs to poop (for the whole day, not just shortly before he eventually poops) indicate the he's constipated? Do I need to do something about this? He also sometimes has pee accidents on the poop day AFTER the poop.
Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place. I'd appreciate any input.
