TTC #3...waiting after taking out IUD?

Okay so right now DH and I are trying to conceive. This will be my third child, and his first since my two other children were born when I was with my ex-husband. I'm just getting so confused because I'm hearing conflicting opinions.

I had a Mirena IUD and had it taken out this past Monday. Prior to that I was told by some mommies on another forum that they were told to wait two to three months before actively TTC. When I had it taken out my doctor, who is not the one I normally go to, told me that there is no solid information saying that there is a need to wait and I could begin trying immediately. I had a few other mom friends tell me that they'd heard you didn't need to wait two to three months, but that you should at least wait until you get your period back.

Well...I don't know what I should be believing! All I know is that I hadn't had a period in four years between being pregnant, BFing, and being on birth control. I was told it could be months before my cycles began again, but I just had the Mirena taken out Monday and immediately started my period on Thursday.

Soo....help...? What should I be listening to here?

I had my Mirena IUD for five years and was told by my OB (who originally put it in after I had my DD) that we could start trying as soon as my period returned. He told me if I'm having my period, any hormones from the IUD are gone. I started my period a week or so later and have been regular since then. That was 18 months ago and we are still trying. HTH!

Yep, as soon as you have that first period you should be good to go. I had the Paraguard, granted it was the non-hormonal option, but I was given a sheet on instructions and care for after the IUD was taken out (hormonal or non-hormonal) and it said that if you wanted to conceive you could start right away.

I'm pretty sure that's what Merina touts as why you need to choose it as your birth control is b/c there is no 'real' waiting period

you dont have to even wait for af. many many women get pg immediately after mirena is removed. i didnt, but it is not uncommon at all. my cycles were normal right away (normal for me, anyway, i have a lpd, but i had that before mirena too.) it did take me several months before i had decent cm again, and i am older so that may be a big part of why it took me longer too. if your cm isnt great, you can just start doing all those things that help improve it, but go ahead and try. dont be terribly discouraged if it takes a little while for things to get back to normal, but you can start trying right away. the companies website also says this, that the return to fertility is immediate upon removal.

When I had mine removed, the OB warned me "Now, you can get pg right away, you know that, right?"

I told him that was kind of the point.

Anyway, you should be fine. I don't see any reason to wait.

Well we've been trying so fingers crossed ladies! I went out and bought ovulation tests even though I've also began charting again...so yay! I meant to take one this morning but totally forgot to when I went to the bathroom so I'll take one a little later today or better yet first thing in the morning. Gosh this is so crazy for me...my first two children with my ex-husband were unplanned so now actually trying for a baby is...I don't even know how to describe it

EDIT:
I managed to be able to squeeze every drop of pee out of me into a cup lol and had enough to take the ovulation test and it had the result that means I should be ovulating within 24 to 48 hours. Dh gets home at two and then time to work on making a baby!! <3
