Midwife in Columbia SC

I am looking for a lay midwife that will attend a VBAC. It will be my third. I really, really need to find one. The laws will not allow a CNM to attend me at home and I am not alowed to birth in a birth center. I do not want to go to a hospital for a normal birth. We are new to this area and have not been able to find one yet.

I don't have any rec's for you, but just wanted to say hi to a fellow Columbia, SC homebirther! We're in Irmo! Hope you can find a provider!

Hi back to ya!  We are originally from Ohio. And moved here for DH to go to school. I am glad to hear from an other mother that is liked minded. I am still looking for some one. Now I have shifted to looking for a good hands off CNM that I can go to until I either find an underground midwife or a CNM to see during my pregnancy and then conveniently not make it to the hospital.  Though I would really prefer having a midwife there is a lot of emotion tied up in this pregnancy. This is our first pregnancy after two miscarriages and loosing our one month old son to a collapsed lung last Dec.  How many HBs have you had?

Someone I know had a VBAC with midwifes that came from out of state. I think they were only ones she was able to find and at the end I don't think she was too pleased with experience. I don't know if there is anyone there now who would attend VBAC.

There is LLL groups in Columbia and Lexington which have a lot of homebirthing moms and also a Holistic Moms Network group that used to meet at  Earth Fair but I think they went back to 14 Carrot store in Lexington on HWY 378, but I am not sure as I moved in August.

I think ladies in those groups will be able to stir you in right direction.

Thank you I will look into that. I have been to 14 carrot and really liked it. So an excuse to go back would be nice. : )

This will be our second child, but first homebirth! My DH and I toyed around with the idea of a midwife when we were expecting our first, but weren't ready at the time to take the leap out of the mainstream- LOL! After our experience in the hospital, I knew then any future babies would be born at home!
