No frost freezers are very noisy?

I really don't know if this is the right place to post this but we are finally ready to buy a freezer which I have wanted for a long time. I found a frost free one that is energy star but then read reviews saying that it was really really noisy. Has anybody had that problem?

we have one. it's not THAT noisy. it does make some weird sounds, which i assume you could get used to. ours is in another part of the house, so we don't have to deal with it so much.
it makes some just regular electrical noises, much like an ice maker would in a regular fridge/freezer-- if you know what i mean-- ice makers are pretty noisy imo..
when you open the door is when it makes the weird sounds. it makes kind of like a whistley purr after you shut the door. it sounds like the wind whistling through window panes when it blows really hard.
i kind of like the little noises it makes, the kinds of sounds you just learn to live with.

Are you planning on having it in the house? We have always kept our freezers in the garage.

just an aside.. sometimes you have no other place for the freezer other than outside, but from our experience, we are casa de freezer, dh is a brewer and there are freezers that just maintain cool temps but not freezing, etc. and the freezers that are outside/ in the garage never last too long. it really decreases the lifespan of the appliance to have to combat the outside temps during the summer. (but then again, we live in a pretty hot state)... so.. if you can put the freezer indoors, it is better for the longevity. but if you can't.. a freezer full of food is infinitely better than no freezer a'tall.

Meat and veggies keep better in a regular freezer that you need to defrost. The thawing to keep frost from building up warms up the food inside and shortens it's storage life.

Personally, I would way rather defrost it once a year than increase the risk of freezer burnt food.
