dealing with differences in food taste

our neighbors are nice people and have 2 boys around ds' age. we do things with them occasionally. problem is, they have quite different food views than us. we don't eat mcdonald's.EVER. to them, it's a quick meal while they're out. i'm not saying we only eat organic local bean sprouts, but i do draw the line at chain fast food. we have no prob. grabbing a quick burrito or sandwich from chipotle if need be, but we do try to at least find a non-chain place that makes their own stuff. i know our neighbors think we're weird about food, and we think they are, yet we still enjoy spending time with them. i don't want to come across as a food snob. please no lectures about how mcdonald's isn't that bad

Agree to disagree. Try not to plan activities together that will connect with or overlap a meal/snack. Do things right after breakfast or lunch instead of before that way you are starting on full stomachs and would hopefully not need to grab a quick bite. On the off chance you are going to be sharing a meal, have an idea of what is available in the area so you can choose the lesser of two evils (Chipotle vs. McDs) or brown bag it so that you are all bringing something from home.

we've had pretty good luck so far doing things "between" meals, but tomorrow i think we'll end up having at least one, if not two meals together. discussing plans with them this evening the dad was already bringing up mcdonald's, he's more the problem. the mom at least understands how/why we eat what we do and tries in her own way to feed her kids her idea of healthy. the dad however could care less. dh went with him and his 5 yo. one day on some errands and he fed his son fritos, a donut and a slurpee from 7-11 for lunch.:Puke
